Koungheul is the name of one of 35 departments of Senegal, as well as Koungheul Arrondissement, and Koungheul, the principal town of the department. In 2006, the new Koungheul Department was created as a division of Kaolack Region, and carved out of the eastern half of the Kaffrine Department.〔See Département de Koungheul at fr:wiki.
